Frequently Asked Questions

At Atlantic Way Golf we’re often asked questions about what makes our Ireland golf packages stand out, and how to prepare for your holiday with us. Below are the answers to some of the most common queries we receive.

However, if you have a question that’s not included, please feel free to get in touch with our team for further information.

Do you only offer the pre-packaged featured tours listed on the site?

Not at all. While our featured tours (including The Great Northwest or The Atlantic Favourite) are fantastic blueprints, every single one of the private golf tours we manage is entirely bespoke.

Our team of experts will build your itinerary from scratch based on your preferred courses, pacing, accommodation style, and budget.

How far in advance should we book an Irish golf trip?

To secure prime tee times at world-renowned championship courses like Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, or Ballybunion, we highly recommend booking 10 to 12 months in advance

Tee times for marquee courses open early and fill up fast, especially for peak summer months.*

* Point of Note: The Ryder Cup is being held in Ireland 2027 so golf tee booking will be highly in demand.

Can we include non-golfers on the tour?

Absolutely. We design ‘More than just golf’ itineraries specifically for non-playing travel companions. While the golfers are on the links enjoying their premier golf tour, we can arrange private castle tours, whiskey tastings, spa days, guided coastal walks, and cultural experiences for other members of the group so everyone has an unforgettable trip.

Logistics, Transport & Accomadation

What kind of transportation do you provide?

At Atlantic Way Golf, we offer flexible transport options depending on your preferences. Most of our luxury golf tours include a dedicated, local private driver/guide with a spacious, golf-bag-friendly, executive vehicle.

If you prefer the freedom of driving yourself that is also fine, and we can assist with that too.

What types of accommodation do you offer?

We partner with Ireland’s finest properties, ranging from luxury 5-star castle resorts (like Carton House or The K Club) and premium boutique hotels, to charming, high-end guest houses close to the courses. Your lodging is completely customised to your group's preferences.

Do you handle flights?

Our expertise is on the ground in Ireland handling your tee times, accommodation, transport, and local experiences. Guests book their own transatlantic or international flights, and we take over the logistics the moment you land at Dublin, Shannon, or Belfast airports.

On the Course

What is the weather like, and what should I pack?

Irish weather is famously unpredictable; you might experience four seasons in one day!

Layers are key. You will need high quality waterproof rain gear, wind resistant layers, and a couple of pairs of golf shoes if possible. Don't worry, playing through a light Atlantic mist is all part of the authentic Irish links experience.

Are caddies available at the courses?

Yes, caddies can be requested at almost all of the championship links courses we feature (such as Lahinch, Waterville, and Old Head). While caddies cannot be 100% guaranteed as they are independent contractors, we submit requests well in advance.

We highly recommend them, their local knowledge on reading the winds and lines is invaluable.

Do I need a handicap certificate to play these courses?

Yes, most championship links courses in Ireland require proof of a valid golf handicap (typically a maximum of 24 or 28 for men, and 36 for women). It's a good idea to have your digital handicap card or a certificate from your home club ready on your phone just in case.

Why should we book with Atlantic Way Golf instead of organising everything ourselves?

Planning an Irish golf tour involves coordinating tee times at highly sought-after courses, as well as accommodation, transport, and local dining. At Atlantic Way Golf, our local knowledge, established relationships, and personalised service streamlines the process and saves you time, whilst helping create a truly memorable golfing experience tailored specifically to the needs of your group.
