Course Information
PGA National Ireland at Slieve Russell Golf Course was opened for play in 1992, when the championship 18-hole parkland layout designed by Patrick (Paddy) Merrigan first welcomed golfers amid the rolling drumlins and lakes of County Cavan
PGA National Ireland 18-hole par-72 layout stretches to over 7,000 yards from the back tees, winding gracefully through rolling drumlins, mature woodland, and alongside two sparkling natural lakes that define both its beauty and strategic character
Several holes at Slieve Russell are instantly memorable, with water influencing play on key stretches and the back nine particularly lauded for its quality and character. Signature holes such as the par-5 13th—a bold risk-reward challenge along the lake—highlight the blend of scenic drama and tactical golf that defines this course
Set within a 300-acre estate of rolling drumlins, mature woodland and sparkling lakes, PGA National Ireland at Slieve Russell offers beautifully maintained playing surfaces year-round that reflect its championship pedigree. The course benefits from excellent drainage and conditioning, thanks in part to the natural sand and gravel soils of the area, meaning fairways and greens tend to stay in great shape even after wetter weather — a hallmark of Irish parkland venues. The greens are particularly noted for their quality and challenge
